Like I Can

It’s one of too many phrases. ‘No-one will ever love you like I can’. Words uttered by lovers. ‘You’ll never swim as far as I can.’ Two people be it siblings, girl/boyfriend, spouse or spouse-to- be, there’s always the cheekiness and the love behind those words. It’s a challenge. What will you dare to say back? I would reply, ‘Exactly. So that works both ways. No-one will ever love you like I can.’
No-one will ever love you like I can. When I’m with you, nothing else matters. No even if what I write relates to the title I’ve written. Because I’m happy. Why? You’re all I want. Someone who would be by my side through everything. Making good memories, enduring bad ones and surviving the ones that life gives us. Before, the word ‘Us’ wouldn’t have been there. I’m used to facing things alone and crumbling away because no-ones been there. There’s still a barrier. But this time, it isn’t being ashamed to feel from my heart. It’s to not seem weak. ‘No tears. You’re stronger than that. Tears, they’re a sign a weakness. Suck it up.’ Those are the thoughts that run through my head when I’m upset. Until the anger takes over. And then that’s it. Music rules over. You won’t see my tears. I won’t let you. Because you’ll cry with me. You’ll feel what I feel. Do I want that for you? Would I want that for anyone? So no, you’ll never see me cry. Because you’re not the only one battling denial and confusion and general emotion. You have enough to think and deal with yourself. I do this because I love you and no-one will ever love you like I can.

18 and Pregnant (Part One)

I didn't think I would fall pregnant. More to the point, I didn't think I could have any children. I'd already been through too much and babies were far from on the brain. So when I found out I was overwhelmed. I had so many emotions. Shock, sadness, guilt even. I took the test and cried. I'd already had a poor upbringing, how am I supposed to guarantee my child would be brought up right when it never experienced good parenting first hand nor been old enough or mature enough to recognise it? So safe to say, I went out to the park and smoked three or four cigarettes one after the other. I had decided an abortion was the best option given I wasn't ready to be a mother. The thought frightened me because I automatically thought I would be exactly like my own mother making my child suffer mentally though not physically. I'd planned everything. The clinic to take the tablet. But I was too far along for that. And then later on that week whilst taking a bath I found I...

To you.

Roses are red, Violets are blue, there is one person I love and that is you. The one thing that I'll have you say is that you'll love me in every way. To hold on to me. to always cherish, to never let me go as without you I perish. If I fall, fall with me. If I hurt reassurance is what you can give me. to look into my soul and know what I'm feeling to not force my current scars into healing. I will always be willing to lend a hand and make sure that you know where I stand. For you I will always give my life through all our problems and our strife. I want you to never leave me and no matter what you'll always believe me. I love you and really you know its true. You never really said, so I ask, do you? I wrote this aged 14 years old.

Hands

I am 16 with Depression. I have more than scars and I have lost both of my parents but I am. I sing. I live. I love. I am a person. But I never used to see myself that way. I was bullied. I hated my accent. People said I sounded posh but I thought I just spoke plain English. I hated the way I looked. I wasn’t pretty or skinny. I wasn’t tall or rich. I didn’t have anything to give put of my hands. My mum went from a more severe addiction to crack when I was a baby to the less severe addiction to cannabis. Because of this, we had little money. I owned nothing that was designer. I had nothing to give from my hands but because I had nothing in my hands. All of what I owned came from the not so local charity shop. My mother told me never to tell anyone that we bought clothing from the charity shop but never told me why. I learnt the hard way. I was bullied because I couldn’t afford the latest shoes and bags. Because I didn’t wear the latest trends. I mean, I was a young girl being bullied ...
